Half of renters in the U.S. spent more than 30% of their income in 2022 on rent and utilities, according to the new America's Rental Housing report by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. The report considers those who spend 30% or more of their income on housing "rent burdened" or "cost burdened," which means those high costs may make it difficult for them to meet other essential expenses. The share of cost-burdened renters increased by 3.2 percentage points from 2019 to 2022. While cost burden has increased across income levels, the consequences are much higher for low-income households, said Airgood-Obrycki.

Rite Aid filed plans to close 154 stores on Monday as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Rite Aid is the smallest of the three major drugstore chains, well behind CVS and Walgreens. Rite Aid was expected to close stores as part of its bankruptcy. New York CNN —On Tuesday, the Supreme Court began hearing oral arguments in a case that will determine the fate of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Supreme Court will have the final say on that, however. The consumer watchdog agency was created after the 2008 financial crisis by way of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. If the Supreme Court finds the CFPB’s funding structure unconstitutional, it could shutter the agency and invalidate all of its prior rulings. From listening to the case on Tuesday, though, Lynyak believes the Supreme Court will rule that the CFPB’s funding structure is constitutional.

The problems would not markedly affect the current year but will result in a hit to cash flow of about 700 million euros ($751.45 million), which will be felt mainly in 2024 and 2025, with some spillover in 2026, according to CFO Peter Kameritsch. MTU said in a statement earlier on Wednesday that it is considering leaving the "significant resulting charges" on reported revenue and earnings figures for 2023 out of its current year guidance.
